Preparing for battle with Ram- You must have seen that Meghnad started the yagya in Nikumbhila temple to please goddess before going to war with Rama and Lakshman. Before going to this war, Meghnad also performed a demonic havan and according to the custom, a black goat flowed into the fire. Pleased with this, Agni himself gave him the boon of victory. In the war, he attacked Lakshman with Nagpash, which left him unconscious. After this incident, the war stopped for some time and Hanuman went to bring Sanjeevani for Lakshman, while Meghnad started to complete the Yagya once again. During that time, once Lakshman got right, the war started. Lakshman came to know that there is only one way to defeat Meghnad, do not let his Yagya get completed. In fact, before the war, Meghnad used to sacrifice ghosts near a giant tree so that he could become invisible during the war. Lakshman kept waiting for him near the same tree and when Meghnad reached there, Lakshman killed the horse and charioteer who came out of the Yagya. After that, Meghnad returned to his palace in anger and then reached the battlefield on another chariot from there.
