Patna: On August 31, 2023, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav expressed his congratulations to Indian scientists for the Chandrayaan 3 mission, claiming that Indian astronauts had been sent to the moon by ISRO and had roamed extensively on its surface. Lalu Prasad Yadav stated, "Now, the scientists deserve much praise. People went to the moon via Chandrayaan. They roamed a lot there." He also humorously suggested, "I appeal to the scientists of ISRO that they should take Narendra Modi along on their next mission and send him to the Sun." Chandrayaan 3, launched by ISRO on August 23, 2023, successfully landed its Vikram lander on the lunar surface. Since then, numerous strange reactions have emerged from Indian politicians representing various parties who may not be well-versed in space missions. It's essential to note that Chandrayaan 3 is an unmanned ISRO mission.

Rajasthan's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Ashok Chandna, previously believed that Chandrayaan-3 was a manned mission, asserting that India had sent astronauts to the moon.
