Gangtok: A huge stock of drugs has been caught in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim and five people including a police officer have been arrested in this connection. Giving information about the case, Deputy Inspector General said that during a raid in East Sikkim district on Thursday, a consignment of Rs 10-14 lakh was caught.
In this consignment, 23,184 bullets with 576 spazmo provoking files have been recovered. Apart from this, there were 100 files of N10 tablets and 52 grams of narcotic brown sugar and 457 bottles of cuff syrup. He said that those arrested included an assistant sub-inspector of Sikkim police. The police suspect that the Assistant Sub-Inspector arrested used to assist in bringing drugs into the state. SP Shiv Prasad Yellasiri of East Sikkim district said that the seized consignment is one of the biggest consignments of drugs caught in the state so far. Police said that drugs were being brought in a taxi.
This taxi was first stopped for searching at Rangpo check post and then it was stopped at Topkhani on National Highway-10. The officer said the police arrested them in Samdong and recovered 3,684 open pills, 380 N10 pills and 21.24 grams of brown sugar and cash amounting to Rs 1.30 lakh from a house. The house was being used to contain drugs.
