If India is called a 'country of forts', it will not be proved wrong, because in ancient times, kings have built so many forts here that you will get tired of counting. Yes, today we are going to tell you about one such fort, which is considered as 'India's largest fort'. The story of its construction is also associated with the Mahabharata period, about which you are hardly aware.

The name of this fort is Chittorgarh Fort, which is said to be India's largest fort. It is located in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. It is also called the pride of Rajasthan and the head of all the fortifications of Rajasthan. The fort of Chittor spread over 700 acres was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2013. This fort has been ruled by many kings at different times. It was ruled by King Bappa Rawal, the founder of the Guhil dynasty in the eighth century, who defeated the last ruler of the Mauryan dynasty, Manmori, and took the fort in his possession. After this it was ruled from Paramaras to Solankis too. There were also many foreign invasions, whose stories are immortal in history.

Let us tell you that many historical pillars, monuments and temples are built in this fort situated at a height of 180 meters. Apart from Vijay Pillar, there is also a 75 feet high Jain Kirti Stambh, which was built in the 14th century. Near this is the temple of Mahavir Swami. A little ahead of it is the temple of Neelkanth Mahadev, about whom it is said that Bhima kept this huge idol of Mahadev tied in his arms. There are a total of seven gates to enter this huge fort. All these can be crossed and entered inside the fort. The names of these seven are Padan Pol, Bhairav Pol, Hanuman Pol, Ganesh Pol, Jodhla Pol, Laxman Pol and Ram Pol. It is said about the first gate that once in a fierce battle, a river of blood started flowing, in which a pada (buffalo) flowed here. That is why this gate was named Padan Pol. Every door here is a different story.
