The mortal remains of noted Kannada film actor Puneet Rajkumar were buried with state honours in Bengaluru. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and several superstars from South films arrived to give him the last salute. His cremation was scheduled to be performed on Saturday but his daughter Vandita took time to reach India from the US so the funeral was postponed for Sunday. The state authority had arranged a special flight to bring Vandita from Delhi to Bengaluru.

He was also a power star of Puneet Philanthropy in his short lifetime of 46 years. They could not hear anything against religions. Puneet had also donated Rs 50 lakh to the CM Relief Fund due to corona infection. Puneet had taken up the responsibility of higher education of 45 schools, 26 orphanages, 16 old age homes, 19 goshalas and 1800 orphan girls. Puneet's popularity can be gauged from the fact that two fans died in shock on hearing of his death. One of the fans hanged himself.

Bengaluru city is currently on high alert. The sale of liquor has been banned here. Lakhs of fans had been standing at the Kantirava Stadium, where Puneet's mortal remains were kept for the last darshan, since Friday evening to bid a final farewell to the power star. Puneet was the youngest of five children of Dr. Rajkumar and Parvatamma. He is survived by wife Ashwini Rewant and Dhriti and Vandita as two daughters. Raghavendra Rajkumar, Shiva Rajkumar are his brothers and Lakshmi, Purnima are his sisters.
