New Delhi: Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi reached the apex court on his last working day at 10:30 am on Friday and stayed for four minutes in court number one. He presided over the bench with his successor and next Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde. When Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi reached the courtroom, it was completely full. During this time, he issued a notice in 10 cases in just three minutes.

Court number one is the court of CJI, where Ranjan Gogoi has been sitting since 3 October 2018. Now Ranjan Gogoi is retiring on 17 November. Friday was his last working day in the top court. During this time the Supreme Court Bar Association gave the Farewell Party to CJI Ranjan Gogoi. Meanwhile, the head of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Sanjeev Khanna, thanked the Chief Judge Ranjan Gogoi on behalf of the Lawyers Association. Ranjan Gogoi's last working day agenda included address through video conferencing with High Court judges and around 15,000 judicial officers in various parts of the country.

Earlier on Friday, CJI Ranjan Gogoi's office issued a statement requesting media interviews, in which he regretted not being able to give an interview and counted the reasons. He said that he belongs to an institution ie the judiciary, whose real strength is the trust of the people, which has been earned not by the press but by his good work.
