Chief Electoral Commissioner O P Rawat addressed the media to announce the schedule of Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018.

 Rawat said accessible elections are the EC's theme for elections this year. For this year, the polling body has ensured special focus on convenient voting for persons with disabilities. Special arrangements for women are being made. All-women polling booths will be set up across the state, he added.

 Here are All Important dates for Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018:

1. Karnataka AssemblyElections will be held in one phase.

2. Polls will be held on 12 May 2018.

3. Counting of votes will take place on May 15.

4. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be 27 April.

5. The issue of gazette notification will be on April 17.

6. The last date for filing of nomination is 24 April.

7. In order to ensure smooth polling, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will be deployed at all 56,696 polling booths across the state.

8. 4 crore 96 lakh voters will exercise their franchise to elect members for the 224 assembly constituencies.

9. Special arrangements will be made for women voters including security arrangements & over 450 centres all-women centres will be set up said Election Commission

10. VVPAT and EVM machines will be used in Karnataka Assembly Elections.

11. Election expenditure for per candidate will be 28 lakh and details will be monitored rigorously.
