Underlining its commitment to inspire the electric vehicles revolution, MG (Morris Garage) Motor India and Fortum Charge & Drive India today launched the first 50 kW DC charging station at MG's main showroom in Gurugram. Before the introduction of MG Motor's first electric car - MG ZS EV - in December 2019, this charging station has been set up by the Finish clean energy company Fortum and commissioned for public use.

Fortem has set up four public 50 kW fast-charging stations in South Delhi, West Delhi, Noida and Gurugram as part of a partnership starting from the national capital. In addition, six more public 50kW DC fast chargers have been installed at MG's dealer locations in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

Mr. Rajeev Chaba, Chairman and Managing Director, MG Motor India stated, “With the goal of being a leader in the EV segment in India, we are doing everything possible to ensure adequate charging infrastructure to our EV consumers. Our effort is to create a robust ecosystem for electric vehicles, ranging from charging to end-of-life for electric vehicles in India and the first major step in this direction is the installation of the first public fast charger.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, Managing Director of Fortum India said, “The vision of Fortum is to make the world cleaner. We are happy that we have launched the first public charge network of 50 kW DC charger in India in partnership with MG. We have seen a boom in the adoption of electric vehicles over the past year from the current charge network of 15/20 DC001 Chargers.
