In a turbulent twist of events in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, Russia has issued a call for a humanitarian ceasefire while also casting blame upon the United States for the escalation of hostilities.
Amidst the rising tensions, the northern region of Gaza found itself in a state of chaos as Palestinians hurriedly fled the area following Israel's directive to evacuate nearly one million people to the southern territories. This mass exodus was prompted by the looming threat of a ground invasion, a consequence of the unexpected assault initiated by the Hamas militant group, despite stern warnings from the United Nations that evacuating nearly half of Gaza's population would result in catastrophic outcomes.
Families, along with their belongings, embarked on an exodus from Gaza City, using a variety of means such as cars, trucks, and even donkey carts, to traverse the path leading southward. The skies above Gaza witnessed relentless Israeli airstrikes on that fateful Friday, with tragic consequences. According to reports from Hamas' media office, warplanes targeted vehicles that were making their way south, resulting in the loss of over 70 lives.
The Israeli military, in response, reported that its forces conducted brief incursions into Gaza with the purpose of engaging militant groups and locating approximately 150 individuals who had been kidnapped during Hamas's initial assault on Israel nearly a week prior.
Tragedy further unfolded in the midst of this conflict, as Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin disclosed that an additional three Thai nationals had lost their lives in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, bringing the total death toll to 24. Speaking to reporters, Prime Minister Srettha conveyed, "I have been informed that there are three more people who died, making it a total of 24."
Meanwhile, the Thai foreign ministry reported that two more Thai nationals had sustained injuries, raising the total number of wounded individuals to 16. Thailand has approximately 30,000 of its citizens employed in various capacities in Israel, primarily within the agriculture sector, as per data from the kingdom's labor ministry.
