Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced on Twitter that they will be retiring one of the players ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. RCB players Parthiv Patel, Brendon McCullum, Yuzvendra Chahal and others also featured in the video and said that skipper Virat Kohli will announce the name of the RCB player who will be retiring on April 4.

In a Facebook Live, Kohli revealed that instead of a player, they are going to retire the jersey number 12. He thanked his fans for supporting the team through the thick and thin and showed the number 12 jersey which will be dedicated to the fans from now onwards.

RCB finished at the bottom of the table in the previous season after a dismal show in the tournament. They were able to win just 3 matches out of 14. They did not have the best start with Kohli out of the side due to shoulder energy for the first few games. They will be playing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first match of the season on April 8. KKR were able to get the better of RCB in both the matches, including the humiliating loss they suffered wherein they were bundled out for 49 while chasing a modest total of 132. While RCB, hold highest team total of 263 runs.
