Thiruvananthapuram: A petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court demanding the passage of a law to ban black magic, sorcery, and inhuman practices. On which a bench headed by Chief Justice S Manikumar, which considered on Tuesday, asked the government what was the reason for the delay in passing such a law. The court has said that the matter will be heard again after two weeks.
In fact, in a writ petition filed by an organization named Kerala Yukti Vadhi Sangam, the High Court has been told that many types of crimes are being committed in the state in relation to superstitions. Such cases are continuously coming to the fore. According to the report, the petition states, "At present, there are no adequate provisions in the general penal law to prohibit or deal with it. Karnataka and Maharashtra are the two states that have passed laws in this regard."
The petition has sought to consider the recommendation of the Law Reforms Commission Report 2019 and take a decision in connection with the enactment of 'The Kerala Prevention of Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices, Witchcraft, and Black Magic Bill-2019'. In which demand has also been made to declare human sacrifice and other inhuman, evil, and barbaric practices and black magic illegal and to take action against black magic, and sorcery centers in the state.' The petition has also demanded that films, serials, and telefilms containing superstition content be declared illegal.
