'Congress wants to save Nirav Modi': Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi: Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched a big attack on the Congress. He said that the Congress is working to save the fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. He said that he is a retired judge of the Mumbai High Court, who has taken the stand as the defense witness of Nirav Modi that there is no case against Nirav Modi.

Law Minister said that Congress leader and former Judge Abhay Thipsay had testified in favor of Nirav. Ten months before his retirement, the Supreme Court Collegium transferred him from Bombay High Court to Allahabad High Court on administrative grounds. He said that on June 13, 2018, Abhay joined the Congress party (after retirement). This was a high profile joining in the presence of Rahul Gandhi, Ashok Gehlot, Ashok Chavan.

He said that we had also said earlier that the Congress party has always played the role of Taranhar in the Nirav Modi case. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the matters related to Nirav Modi belong to the rule of Congress. Most of this happened in UPA-1 and UPA-2. Rahul Gandhi also attended a program of Nirav Modi on 13 September 2013.
