Laxman praised Sehwag for his confidence and positivity and called him one of the most explosive openers in the history of Test cricket. Sehwag announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in October 2015. In a long Test career of 104 matches, he scored 8586 runs at an impressive average of 49.34. He scored 23 centuries and 32 fifties in the longest format in a 12-year-long tenure. He scored 319 runs in 304 balls against South Africa in Chennai with the help of 42 fours and five sixes.
