Lebanese PM Najib Mikati condemns deadly attack in Egypt's Sinai

BEIRUT – Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has condemned the tragic attack in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Saturday that killed 11 military, according to a statement released by Lebanon's Council of Ministers.

"We condemn this terrorist act that targeted brotherly Egypt, its security and stability," Mikati said in a phone discussion with Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Xinhua news agency reported Mikati as saying, "We express our sympathies with the people of Egypt and the relatives of the victims in this experience."

"We are convinced that Egypt, led by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, will be able to face all threats head-on and reclaim its wealth," Mikati said.

At least 11 Egyptian servicemen were killed and five others were injured in skirmishes with terrorists at a water pumping station in western Sinai on Saturday, according to the Egyptian army.
