Bhubaneswar: Left parties in Odisha staged a Stop Train Agitation at Bhubaneswar railway station on Thursday morning against the hike in petrol and diesel prices across the country. Left parties have called for a curfew in the state from 6 am to 12 noon (6 hours) in protest against the ever-increasing petroleum products.
Meanwhile, the Left appealed to the people in the state not to purchase petrol, diesel and domestic gas. The impact of the curfew has been seen in all districts of Odisha. In a 6-hour state-wide demonstration, leaders and activists of CPI, CPI (M), CPI M(L) protested at intersections in the state shouting slogans against the central government and the state government. On the other hand, road demonstrations were held at several places with Rail-Roko agitation at the railway station in the capital Bhubaneswar. The Left parties in the state protested against the prices of petrol and diesel by burning tyres on the road in several districts.
It also urged people to support the shutdown. Meanwhile, several districts witnessed a bandh. The impact of the bandh was especially visible in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Ebang and Balasore. We are against the policy on petrol and diesel between the Central and State Governments, both governments are making profits from the people even during the Corona period with petrol and diesel, governments need to provide tax relief on oil prices, left leaders said during the protest.
