Mumbai: Sharad Pawar has been in the news since meeting election strategist Prashant Kishore a few days ago and convening a meeting of opposition parties. It is being said that he may be a presidential candidate. However, there is now a response from his party NCP.

The party has rejected these discussions. Recently, NCP leader and Minister in the Maharashtra government Nawab Malik has termed the reports as false. "Reports of Sharad Pawar becoming a candidate in the presidential election are baseless. Presidential elections are not going to be held yet. The situation will be reviewed after the elections in 5 States.'' Moreover, Nawab Malik also said, "There has been no discussion on Sharad Pawar becoming the presidential candidate in NCP. It has not been discussed with any other party also. All such reports are completely false and baseless.''

Let me tell all of you that recently Sharad Pawar had convened a meeting of several opposition parties including TMC, Aam Aadmi Party, RJD. It was then that discussions started on his part about preparing for the Third Front or lobbying to become the presidential candidate. After that, the discussions were further escalated after a meeting with election strategist Prashant Kishore. That is what the NCP has now rejected all this.
