Airport of Leh, the joint capital and largest city of Ladakh, remained shut on Tuesday, May 16, for civilians and the reason was an (IAF)'s aircraft. An Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft has blocked the runway as the heavy-lifter is facing a technical issue.

On May 16, a number of additional planes with a destination of Leh were diverted, including Air India AI445 (A20N), SpiceJet SG8125, and IndiGo's 6E313. The majority of planes were diverted to Srinagar and Chandigarh. Some of them went back to Mumbai and Delhi.
