Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leader Rashid Khan has sought permission to offer prayers at the Char Minars in Hyderabad. At the same time, the Congress leader has called the Sri Bhagya Lakshmi Temple near the building illegal and demanded its closure. He has said that either his demand should be appreciated or else he will protest. On Tuesday (May 31, 2022), Rashid Khan claimed that namaz was offered at this place two decades ago, but then Muslims were prevented from coming here. Now again, they have launched a signature campaign for prayers.  

Congress leader Rashid Khan has urged the ASI and the Tourism and Culture Ministry to allow them to offer prayers. However, Kishan Reddy of the Cultural Ministry told him that doing so could lead to law and order problems. Now Khan will approach the Telangana CM KCR with the same demand. There too, if they are not heard, they will stage a protest near Pragati Bhawan. Khan has declared the Shri Bhagya Lakshmi Temple near the Char Minar as illegal with his demand. Khan said wrong premises have been built near mosques across the country. Rashid Khan pointed to the Bhagya Lakshmi temple near char minar and termed it illegal. Rashid Khan said, "We believe in Ganga Jamuna Tehzeeb. If there is a prayer in the temple, let it be. But open our closed mosque at the same place and allow us to pray there. '

Khan has demanded that if the ASI has closed the mosque, the temple should also be closed. Speaking to the media after his demand, Maulana Ali Qadri has said that earlier people used to gather and offer prayers near the four minarets, but since a person committed suicide at this place, the practice of namaz here has stopped. On the ongoing campaign by the Congress leader, the BJP said the party's aim is only to create communal tension.

Former BJP MLC Ram Chandra Rao said, "The party is trying to escalate communal tension in Hyderabad. They have lost their land in the city. Now he wants to gain his land by raising tensions like this, there is a mosque which is a heritage structure and closed and there is a temple where people have been worshipping for years. He said connecting the two issues in this way is to spread communal tension. The state government should take steps to maintain law and order and arrest the Congress leader. The TRS and congress party of the state only provoke the sentiments of the minorities to their advantage.
