New Delhi: Amidst the politics of the ongoing tussle between Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena and the Kejriwal government in the national capital Delhi, the LG has given in-principle approval for the foreign tour of Deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia. However, with this approval, LG has also created confusion regarding the expenses incurred on the tour. In fact, recently Manish Sisodia sought permission to attend the TESOL Education Conference to be held in Portland, USA. Along with Sisodia, his secretary and the secretary of the education department are also going to participate in the conference.
While giving in-principle approval, the LG has put question marks on the expenditure incurred for attending the conference. According to the LG, in the proposal sent, the education department has said that the expenses of the said tour will be borne by the organizers. There will be no financial liability on the government. It has also been said that the travel expenses of Sisodia will be borne by GNCTD. In such a situation, both situations are contradictory to each other. Due to conflicting information on expenses in the proposal, it was unclear whether the Delhi government would bear the expenses for Sisodia's trip. In-principle approval has been accorded for the proposed visit subject to requisite approvals.
Let us tell you that the political war between the Kejriwal government and the Lieutenant Governor in Delhi is going on for a long time. Kejriwal and the Delhi government have been continuously accusing the LG of controlling power. On the other hand, the LG has been accusing the Delhi government of misappropriating funds. For the past several months, the confrontation between the two has increased.
