New Delhi: The tussle between the AAP government and Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena over the liquor policy in the national capital continues. On Saturday, on one side, Delhi's deputy CM Manish Sisodia took a dig at former LG Anil Baijal. At the same time, Delhi LG VK Saxena suspended 11 officials, including the then Excise Commissioner of Delhi, Aarav Gopi Krishna, for defaulting in implementing the excise policy.
LG VK Saxena on Saturday ordered suspension and initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the then Delhi Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna and the then Deputy Commissioner Anand Kumar Tiwari. Along with this, the LG has also issued suspension orders of 9 other officials of the excise department. The LG has taken this order in the wake of serious lapses in the implementation of the excise policy on the part of the concerned authorities. This includes going to find irregularities in awarding tenders and extending post-tender benefits to selected vendors.
Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia accused former LG Anil Baijal of changing his stand on the opening of liquor shops in unauthorized areas. At the same time, he said that the government was harmed by stopping the new excise policy in Delhi. Manish Sisodia questioned at whose behest the LG took the decision. Sisodia said he has sent the details of the case to the CBI and demanded a CBI probe.
