New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinai Saxena on Thursday filed a defamation case against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its five leaders over their false allegations. Saxena on Thursday urged the Delhi High Court to restrain the AAP and several of its leaders from making "false" and baseless allegations against him and his family. AAP leaders had claimed that Saxena was involved in a Rs 1,400-crore scam during his tenure as chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

Seeking damages of Rs 2 crore, LG Saxena has told the court that AAP had made these allegations to divert people's attention from the action being taken by law enforcement agencies with planned purpose. Along with this, LG Saxena has sought an order to remove the alleged false and defamatory posts or tweets or videos circulated and released on social media by AAP and its leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh and Jasmine Shah. He has also demanded compensation of Rs 2 crore, including interest, from the AAP and its five leaders.

Saxena's counsel has also urged the high court to direct Twitter and YouTube (Google Inc) to dismiss or remove tweets, re-tweets, posts, videos, captions, taglines along with pictures of the plaintiff and his family members pictures.
