Dehradun: An incident like the Shraddha murder in Delhi was also reported in the quiet valleys of Dehradun. In 2010, software engineer Rajesh Gulati brutally killed his wife Anupama Gulati. After killing, the body was cut into 72 pieces with an electric saw in the house itself. The body parts were kept in a large deep freezer. Rajesh slowly threw the body pieces into the forest. The shocking case was reported in the Cantt Kotwali area on December 11, 2010. Rajesh Gulati, a software engineer, lived in a house in Dehradun with his wife Anupama and two children.

On October 17, 2010, Anupama suddenly went missing and the matter was opened when her brother reached Dehradun. On September 1, 2017, the Dehradun court sentenced Rajesh Gulati to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 15 lakh, out of which 70 thousand should be deposited in the government fund and the remaining amount should be deposited in the bank till his children become adults. Whenever the children asked Rajesh about his mother, he used to say that his mother had gone to the maternal grandparents' house. It went on like this for about 2 months. On December 11, 2010, Anupama's brother reached Rajesh's Prakashnagar residence, but he was not allowed to enter the house.

He gave this information to the police. When the police searched the house, pieces of Anupama Gulati's body were found in the deep freezer kept in a room. The court sentenced Rajesh Gulati to life imprisonment in the case. According to the charge sheet, the next day Rajesh bought a deep freezer from the market for Rs 20,000 and hid the body in it. When the blood froze, Rajesh bought a stone-cutting grinder and saw from the market and cut the body into pieces from them. To dispose of the corpse, he threw some pieces in polythene in 3 times and threw them down the hill in Mussoorie. He was slowly doing this work so that no one would doubt him, but in the meantime, his pole was opened. Rajesh married Anupama on February 10, 1999. The two had been having an affair since 1992. After marriage, Rajesh took Anupama to the US in 2000. There in June 2006, they had twins Siddharth and Sonakshi. In 2008, both of them came to Delhi. Thereafter, Rajesh came to Dehradun with his family.
