Mungeli: The half-naked body of a 9-year-old girl was found in bushes in Chhattisgarh's Mungeli on Thursday night. It was stuffed in a plastic sack and thrown away. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Seeing the situation, it is suspected that the girl was strangled to death after rape. The body has not been examined yet. The case is from the city Kotwali area.
According to the news received, the shepherds were returning with cattle at around 5 pm on Thursday in Amlidih village. Due to this, their eyes fell on a plastic sack lying in the bushes. They went closer and saw that the sack was tied from above. On this, they informed the Kotwar of the village. When Kotwar reached the spot and touched the sack from outside, they suspected it to be someone's body. Then, they informed the police. After some time, the police also reached with the dog squad and forensic team on the news of the body being found. He saw that the mouth of the sack was tied with a towel. When it was opened, the half-naked body of the girl was found inside. Her hands and feet were folded and put in the sack. The girl had a locket of 786 around her neck. The police tried to identify her through the people around, but could not investigate.
Police said it will be clear only after the post-mortem whether the girl was raped or not. It is suspected that the girl was strangled to death. The body is suspected to be a day old. Panchnama action is currently underway. The photo of the girl's body has been sent to nearby police stations for examination. Apart from this, informers have also been alerted.
