Kochi: Kerala's Pinrai Vijayan government has decided to impose lockdown in the state following the ever-increasing number of cases of the global epidemic coronavirus. CM Pinarayi Vijayan has said that lockdown will be implemented across the state from 6 am to May 16 on May 8. A record 41,953 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Kerala on Wednesday.
After which state CM Pinarayi Vijayan termed the situation as serious and said more stringent steps will be taken to prevent infection. The state government has decided to strengthen measures against the growing infection by deploying medical students and government officials to tackle the ground condition.
CM Vijayan had said on Wednesday after reviewing the situation of the corona epidemic in the state with officials that instructions are being given to strengthen ward level committees and medical students from the locality will be included in the rapid action team. Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi had praised Kerala's medical staff and the government for not wasting the corona vaccine in the state.
