Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Friday claimed that the decision to lockdown has been taken in an haste without thinking. Due to which farmers and other labor people are being affected. Before taking this decision, the state government should have consulted the experienced, citizens, officials, progressive farmers, farmers associations and wholesale traders. Deve Gowda in his letter to the Chief Minister of the state further said that 61 percent of the state's population depended on agriculture.
For your information, let us tell you that the farmers of the country and the state are facing the brunt of the decision taken without thinking and without any preparation. Deve Gowda wrote this letter on Thursday 9 April. The JD (S) mentor suggested taking some measures and said that there should be no restriction on activities like agriculture. Purchase of horticultural produce should be done at a reasonable price.
In his statement further on Sunday, Gowda said that he has assured the Prime Minister that he is with him in this country's fight against Corona. In his letter to the Chief Minister, Gowda said that a lockdown has been implemented to control the spread of coronavirus, this has put our farmers in despair and their lives have been burnt by fire. This lockdown looks like a hasty decision made for our farmers agricultural laborers, and daily wage laborers without proper thought and consideration.
