Bangalore: Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa on Friday indicated that the lockdown-like ban imposed across the state is likely to be extended from May 12. "We are considering it with the authorities", Yediyurappa told press men at a temple in Gandhinagar in Bengaluru on Friday morning. It has become inevitable to take stringent action. He said that in today's and tomorrow's meetings, it will be decided on what action should be taken.
Due to corona lockdown in many States of the country, the possibility of its expansion in Karnataka has also increased. Karnataka has registered 49,058 new cases of corona virus infection on Thursday and the number of people infected so far has increased to 17,90,104. The Health Department said that after the death of 328 corona virus patients in the last 24 hours, the number of people who lost their lives due to the infection has increased to 17,212 in the state.
In Bengaluru urban area itself, 23,706 new cases of infection have been registered while 139 patients succumbed to their injuries. According to the department, 5,17,075 patients are active cases in Karnataka. 18,943 people have recovered in the state today and 12,55,797 patients have been recovered so far. 1,64,441 samples were examined in the state on Thursday. So far, 2.65 crore samples have been examined.
