New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament has started on Friday. After a brief meeting, the proceedings of the lower house of Parliament have been postponed till 11 am on Saturday. Newly appointed Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Atul Kumar Singh alias Atul Rai, from Uttar Pradesh's Ghosi Lok Sabha seat, took oath and signed the role of members in the Lok Sabha.

He assumed his seat immediately after the house resumed at 12:45 pm on Friday afternoon. Letters of President Ram Nath Kovind's address in both houses of Parliament and then Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman put the Economic Survey on the Table of the House. After this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House till 11 am on Saturday.

On Saturday, Union Finance Minister Sitharaman will present the budget for the year 2020-2021. There is a lot of waiting for this budget, because the country is going through a phase of economic slowdown. This year's budget session is divided into two parts. The first part started on Friday and will continue till 11 February, after which the session will be postponed for a few days. The second part of the session will be from March 2 to April 3.
