London Will run out of hospital beds in 2 weeks unless COVID-19 slows down: Mayor Sadiq Khan

Coronavirus is wreaking havoc in the UK.  The corona cases are continuously increasing after the new strain of corona detected in UK. The UK has 2,957,476 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 79,833 deaths. Mayor Sadiq Khan today said that the London will run out of hospital beds in the next 2 weeks unless the spread of the virus slows down.

In a Tweet, Mayor Sadiq Khan said, “The situation in London is critical. This week I declared a major incident due to the threat this virus poses to Londoners. The reality is we will run out of hospital beds in the next 2 weeks unless the spread of COVID-19 slows down. Please, stay at home."

Earlier on Friday, the London mayor declared a major incident “because the threat this virus poses to our city is at crisis point". Xinhua quoted Khan as saying,  “If we do not take immediate action now, our NHS (National Health Service) could be overwhelmed and more people will die. Our heroic doctors, nurses and NHS staff are doing an amazing job, but with cases rising so rapidly, our hospitals are at risk of being overwhelmed."
