Lord Supper: Christian’s Holy ritual and significance of it

The Lord’s Supper is a soul-stirring experience because of the depth of meaning it contains. Every church takes Communion at some time or another. Different churches share in the Lord’s Supper in slightly different ways. It was during the age-old celebration of the Passover on the eve of His death that Jesus instituted a significant new fellowship meal that we observe to this day. It is an integral part of Christian worship. It causes us to remember our Lord’s death and resurrection and to look for His glorious return in the future. The Passover was the most sacred feast of the Jewish religious year. It commemorated the final plague on Egypt when the firstborn of the Egyptians died and the Israelites were spared because of the blood of a lamb that was sprinkled on their doorposts. The lamb was then roasted and eaten with unleavened bread. God’s command was that throughout the generations to come the feast would be celebrated.

There is some bread; there is some juice. Sometimes you go to the front of the church to get it; other times it is served to you. In many churches, people take a piece of bread and a little glass of juice to eat and drink. Some churches dip the bread in the juice. It all just depends on the traditions of your own church. But in every church, it is a very important and sacred way for Christians to remember Jesus and His death on the cross for our sins until He comes again. Catholic may have a little different from what describe here.

As per Scripture defined before Jesus died on the cross, He had a final meal with His friends, the Disciples. He wanted to give them something to remember Him by when He wasn’t with them, so He used the bread and the juice that they were having with their supper that night. The bread and the Juice are both symbols that represent Jesus. The broken piece of bread reminds us of His body which was broken when He was nailed to the cross. The Juice reminds us of Jesus’ blood that He shed for us on the cross. Jesus loved us so much that He gave His body and blood for us, so we could be forgiven when we sin. That is a lot of love for each and every one of us. When They take the Lord’s Supper (Communion), it is important to remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Is isn’t something we should just do without thinking about what it truly represents. It was given to us by Jesus Himself, so we wouldn’t forget His great love for all of us. Next time you take Communion, remember what it stands for and how wonderful a thing Jesus did for us.
