Lucknow: A five-story building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow on Tuesday evening in Alaya Apartments in the Hazratganj area, causing an uproar. Along with NDRF and SDRF, army teams were also engaged in relief and rescue work, while 16 people were pulled out from the debris. Two of these women lost their lives.

An inquiry has been ordered regarding the construction of Alaya Apartments. The NOC issued to Alaya Apartments will also be examined. Nawazish Manzoor, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Shahid Manzoor from Meerut, was arrested in connection with the case. The two women who died in the apartment collapse belong to the family of Samajwadi Party spokesperson Abbas Haider. Samajwadi Party leader Abbas Haider's mother Begum Haider and wife Uzma Abbas have died. There was a ruckus in the civil hospital after the death of both. Samajwadi Party spokesman Abbas Haider alleged that a mockery is being done in the name of rescue, the rescue operation was not done properly and did not drill where it was told.

Samajwadi Party leader Abbas Haider said, "The family members were buried inside for hours, no oxygen was delivered on time nor water was available, my wife and my mother died due to suffocation, it is the administration which was negligent, the government is doing a parody in the name of rescue, ministers and top officials are coming to the spot and taking photos." Samajwadi Party leader Abbas Haider said that we still need the body of our family members and we do not want any kind of post-mortem, action should be taken against those due to whose negligence they died. Two people lost their lives due to their negligence.
