Floods wreaked havoc in 394 villages of Madhya Pradesh, CM Shivraj spoke to PM Modi

Bhopal: Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan has spoken to PM Narendra Modi on Sunday. He has informed PM Modi about the flood situation in the state. CM Shivraj has said that floods have caused havoc in more than 394 villages in nine districts of the state. So far more than 7000 people have been rescued and shifted to safe places.

CM Shivraj said that 5 people stranded in flood in Chhindwara were airlifted to a safe place by helicopter. Two Air Force helicopters were scheduled to come to Hoshangabad, Sehore and Raisen, but due to bad weather, they had to return by their way. One has been to Jhansi and one to Nagpur. We have asked for additional helicopters from the Airforce. The teams of NDRF and SDRF are fully engaged.

Due to torrential rains in the state for the last two days, several districts of Madhya Pradesh including Hoshangabad have been flooded. The situation in the state has become so grim that on Saturday, the army and NDRF had to enlist the help of the people to save them from submerged areas. Nearly 3,500 people have been evacuated to safe places in Hoshangabad, while five people stranded in a flood have been evacuated from an air force helicopter in Chhindwara.
