The BJP has stepped up the preparations for the by-elections after the cabinet formation. Govind Singh Rajput, from the Jyotiraditya Scindia camp in Shivraj Singh's cabinet, was given the command of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies and Cooperation. He was also made in charge of Gwalior-Chambal division.

The by-election is to be held in the state which arose after the fall of Kamal Nath government. The BJP seems to be quite confident about this. With the BJP entrusting this responsibility to Govind Singh Rajput, the BJP has started preparations for the by-elections in 24 assembly seats. Congress is considering making the leader of opposition and senior MLA Dr. Govind Singh the Leader of Opposition to contest Rajput, because of the 24 seats to be held in the by-election, the maximum 16 seats are in Gwalior-Chambal division.

The BJP has formed the cabinet keeping in mind the regional balance and by-elections. Under this strategy, Govind Singh Rajput, who is considered to be Scindia of Scindia, has been made in charge of Gwalior-Chambal. Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat has been appointed in charge of Sagar and Indore divisions.
