Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government is going to approve strike days as a holiday period. This will benefit about 10 lakh employees of the state and they will be paid salaries for this period. This is likely to put a burden of over 1500 crore rupees on the government. During the last year, employees of various cadres had called for agitations and strikes in the state.

The strike period was cut by the then Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. The employees' organisations had been continuously demanding that the strike period be paid for the holiday. The state government has now decided to accept the period of the agitations as a holiday. In this context, the State General Administration Minister Dr. Govind Singh had issued instructions to the department to pay the strike period to the employees.

According to official sources, the General Administration Department has ordered the government to observe the strike period days on Thursday as a holiday. The government's decision will benefit 10 lakh employees of the state. There are currently four million regular employees. Besides, 2.5 lakh teachers are from the cadre and 1.5 lakh are contract employees in other departments.
