Indore: A record 69,454 samples were tested in Madhya Pradesh on May 17. Out of this, 5412 reports have been found positive. This is the lowest in the last 37 days. The rate of infection has come down to 8 per cent from more than 13 per cent 7 days ago. The biggest reason behind this decline is the government's testing strategy. The government is showing confidence in rapid antigen tests (RAT), which experts are not sure about.

Monday's figures have reduced the ratio of rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests in the state to 59:41, while guidelines suggest that it should be 30:70. The government has reduced RT-PCR to increase rapid tests, the record of which is kept differently. Health department sources said pm Modi had on May 11 asked states to increase testing. Since then, the corona test figures in Madhya Pradesh have increased every day. Official figures show that more than 50 per cent rapid tests suddenly triggered a positive rate of incidence. The state underwent 40,985 rapid antigen tests on May 17, in which 1296 (3 fisads) were found to be infected. In 28,559 RT-PCR, 14 per cent samples were reported positive.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and ICMR's guidelines, rapid antigen tests should not exceed 30%, but in Madhya Pradesh, the figures for the last 7 days are increasing from 51 to 60 percent, because it double the record of maximum sample tests in madhya pradesh in the last 7 days.
