Ujjain: The incident of openly selling meat on the road to the famous Mahakal temple again heated up in the Municipal Corporation on Friday. In the municipal conference, some councilors raised the demand and said that seeing meat being sold on the road to the temple hurts the faith of the devotees, this should be banned. The motion passed on this.

Corporation President Kalavati Yadav asked Corporation Commissioner Roshan Kumar Singh to stop selling meat openly on the main roads following the rules. It should be noted that there are many shops of non-vegetarian dishes on the course road Topkhana, Begambagh to Mahakal temple. These are sold openly. The council also approved the proposal of naming all three industrial areas of the city. Now Maxi Road Industrial Area, Shri Mahakaleshwar Industrial Area, Agar Road Industrial Area, Shipra Industrial Area, and Dewas Road Industrial Area will be known as Avantika Industrial Area. The council also approved some other proposals including renaming Kutta Bawdi as Lakha Banjara, Mullapura as Murlipura, and Ward 4's Maili Gali as Swarna Gali.
