Tomorrow, 26th February 2025 is the last day of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, with the last snan on the occasion of Mahashivratri. As of now, 63 crore devotees have taken the holy bath at the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati’s confluence. A huge crowd is thronging even now with the event culminating tomorrow. Today alone, until now as many as 31.61 lakh people have taken the dip in Prayag.
After the weekend also, there is no fall in the number of devotees. Since Tuesday evening also, a significant surge has been observed in the figures. Seeing the crowd, the administration had to yet again declare no-vehicle zone which will come to effect from today 4pm onwards, in order to control the traffic as well as ensure the safety of the devotees. The vehicles are being stopped 10 km away from the Sangam.
Even Bollywood celebrities reached to register their attendance at the grand event, including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Raveena Tandon along with her daughter Rasha Thadani. Till Saturday, 60 crore devotees took the holy bath, on Monday 1.30 crore people more. And as we mark 44 days of the event, 63.63 crore footfall of devotees has been registered.
There is no comparison to the devotional spirit and enthusiasm of the people. Even though the flight fares were increased before the last bath, people were still ready to reach Prayagraj anyways, without any worry of the payment. And despite the fair area being declared as the no-vehicle zone, parking arrangements have been made at various locations with people entering the city from various locations like Rewa, Jaunpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Mirzapur among others.
The administration has also deployed air force at the Mahakumbh before the last bath for air surveillance in case of any emergency. The DIG Vaibhav Krishna said, “All efforts have been made for Mahashivratri tomorrow. Efforts will be made to ensure that there is no traffic jam anywhere in the Mahakumbh mela area. All arrangements will be carried on smoothly. No matter how big the crowd is, we are fully prepared.”
Notably, with the Mahakumbh’s last day coinciding with Mahashivratri this year, it has been decided that the 16km long procession taken out by the locals every year won’t happen this year.
As the event culminates tomorrow, let us see at what number does the largest spiritual gathering of the world finishes at. The event of devotion and religious spirit will end after 45 days, having begun on 13th January.
