Along with this, Congress MLA Kanshi Ram Pawara and deprived Bahujan Aghadi leader Gopichand Padalkar also switched sides to BJP on Monday.

Kanshiram Pawara was elected from Sripur seat on a Congress ticket. Padalkar contested the Lok Sabha elections from Sangli on the ticket of Aghadi but lost. He is likely to challenge senior NCP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on the Baramati assembly seat. Padalkar and Pawara joined the party here in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior leaders.

State CM Devendra Fadnavis said on the occasion that Padalkar is a lion and if he is ready, he can be given ticket from Baramati seat. Baramati has been considered the party's stronghold since the formation of the NCP in 1999. Namita Mundra joined BJP in the presence of BJP's Beed MP Pritam Munde and state minister Pankaja Munde. This is considered a major setback for NCP Chief Sharad Pawar.
