MUMBAI: With a felling of shocking wave Himanshu Roy, former Maharashtra ATS chief and additional director general of police, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his Malabar Hills home in Mumbai on Friday.

As per reports He was suffering from cancer for over two years. According to sources the senior officers place the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.

Security tightened outer side of Bombay Hospital. Roy, was an IPS officer of 1988 batch, was bleeding when brought to Bombay Hospital where he was declared dead by senor doctors.

Roy was well-known for his soft communication skills. He is credited with the investigation of IPL betting scam and arrest of diesel don Mohammed Ali Shaikh. 26/11 Mumbai terror attack offender and Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab was sentenced to life imprisonment during Roy's tenure as Mumbai crime branch chief.

Areeb Majeed, the Kalyan youth who went to join the IS, was also expelled to India during his term as ATS chief.During his term as the ATS chief, software engineer Anees Ansari was booked for allegedly planning to blow up the American school at the Bandra Kurla complex.
