Mumbai: Currency Note Press (CNP) and India Security Press (ISP) in Nashik, Maharashtra have stopped work for four days from Monday. The reason for this is that 40 employees of both the institutes were found coronavirus positive in the last two weeks. The CNP print 17 million notes of different denomination, while the ISP prints revenue stamps, stamp paper, passports and visas.

The CNP has 2,300 and the ISP has 1,700 permanent employees. The production deficit of Rs 68 million of the notes will be met by working on Sunday while remaining operational for four days. According to sources, about 125 employees of  CNP and ISP, both units have been found corona infected in the last three months. An official has said, "We are already following the SOP to stop the spread of Corona. Employees who have been found infected have received the infection through their family members or contacts".

After the commencement of operations in both the units, the Nashik Municipal Corporation will conduct an antigen test of all employees. Currency Note Press and India Security Press are units of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited. In addition to making coins, it prints government currencies and other security documents. The company has nine units across the country.
