Palghar Mob Lynching: Uddhav Govt In SC Denies CBI Probe

Mumbai: In the Palaghar mob lynching case, the Maharashtra government told the apex court that we have taken action against 18 policemen after departmental investigation. The Maharashtra government has asked the CBI not to investigate the matter. The government said there is no need for a CBI inquiry into the matter.

In fact, the apex court had in the past asked the Maharashtra police what steps they had taken against the erring policemen. The CBI also questioned the investigation. It may be noted that after handing over the responsibility of the probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death to CBI, the Saints had now raised the demand for CBI probe into the Palghar mob violence case. The All India Akhara Parishad (ABAP) had demanded that the CBI probe into the brutal violence of two sadhus in Palghar, Maharashtra on April 16.

The head of the council, Narendra Giri, had said that the court would also be approached by the Akhara Parishad if required for the CBI probe. On the night of April 16, two sadhus were riding in a car with a driver from Kandivli in Mumbai to a funeral in Surat, Gujarat, amid a lockdown across the country. Meanwhile, a mob in Gadchinchild village attacked them in the presence of a police team and was mercilessly murdered.
