Maharashtra: Elections are taking place in Maharashtra. the polling for 14,234-gram panchayats in 34 districts of the state has been released from 7:30 this morning. According to reports, the voting process is going to continue till 5:30 pm. Polling will be held in Naxal affected areas till 3 pm. According to reports, there are four tehsils of Gondia and Gadchiroli in these Naxal affected areas. Thereafter, counting is being said on 18th January.

There have already been uncontested elections in some villages. At present, the gram panchayats in which elections are taking place had ended between April and December. The election was extended because of the corona period. While the gram panchayats which had expired between April and December were due to be elected on 31st March 2020 in those gram panchayats, the elections had to be postponed on 17th March 2020 due to the epidemic. In 1,566 gram panchayats, so far, the work of Panchayats was being completed by appointing administrators. The decision to appoint administrators was taken after the cabinet meeting. An ordinance was brought for the decision, which was implemented after the concurrence of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
