Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s suffer a lot with hands of Karni Sena and politician in the recent past month. Sanjay most controversial magnum opus movie ‘Padmavati’ has been facing a lot of trouble since its announcement of its release. After a string of protests by the Rajput Karni Sena, the makers have postponed the film's release date. The movie was slated to release on 1st December 2017. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. Deepika and Shahid will be seen onscreen for the first time. While Shahid will essay the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, Deepika will be seen playing the role of Padmavati.

During an interview with a leading magazine, Shahid was all praises for his co-star Deepika. He said, ‘’It’s weird. There were times when I agreed to do a film and she declined it. Somehow, we never ended up doing a film together. Padmavati is a great film to come together for. What a fantastic relationship existed between the king and the queen as husband and wife. It’s complex. Deepika’s a great actress. She’s at the top of the game. She’s perfect for Padmavati. We had a great time working with each other. It didn’t feel that we were working together for the first time.’’

Talking about Shahid, Deepika had earlier said, "Shahid and I have known each other for so many years, but a special film like Padmavati brought us together onscreen. His contribution to this film is irreplaceable. It was important to have a good actor, with a strong screen presence and massive popularity to add to this film. Shahid brought that with him," Deepika had added
