New Delhi: Today the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is being celebrated across the country. On this occasion, BJP has started Gandhi Sankalp Yatra. BJP Chief and Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off the visit to New Delhi. During this, he said that Gandhi's Satyagraha movement brought the British to their knees. Shah showed the world the path of truth and non-violence. During this time, the BJP president talked about banning single-use plastic to make the movement a mass movement.

He said about this, 'Modi Ji has come out with a resolution to liberate the country from single-use plastic. The responsibility of making this movement a mass movement rests with the people of the country and all the BJP workers. He said that it takes about 400 years for plastic to be destroyed. It is also harmful to our health and environment. This is also adversely affecting animals. Let us take a pledge not to make plastic bags today.' After flagging off the yatra, Amit Shah walked about 500 km.

During this time he said, 'We will work to carry Gandhiji's message from village to village and house to house. I want to tell crores of party workers that Gandhiji's 150th birth anniversary should be a year of resolve for all of us.' According to the news, the BJP has extended the duration of Gandhi Sankalp Yatra by three months. 

Earlier it was scheduled to be held between 2 to 31 October, but now the yatra will be 120 days and will end on 31 January 2020 instead of October. Through this program, BJP will tell people about Gandhiji's ideals and principles of non-violence, Swaraj and simplicity. During this time MPs have been given a clean order to wear in their areas.
