New Delhi: Today i.e. on Wednesday, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is being celebrated. It is being celebrated in the country as well as abroad. On this occasion, statues of Mahatma Gandhi will be unveiled in 35 cities outside the country. The order to make these was received by renowned sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar, ornamented with Padma Bhushan living in Noida. Sutar has delivered the statues through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Even earlier, the statues of Gandhiji built by him are established in Africa and different countries, America, Japan, Canada, Mongolia etc.

Models of these statues still exist in his studio located at Sector-63. Thousands of statues of Mahatma Gandhi are installed all over the world. Statues related to Quit India Movement (1942), Salt Satyagraha (1930), Non-Cooperation Movement, talks with erstwhile politicians on the repressive policies of the British, Chintan Mudra or movement in South Africa etc. are present here.

The first four feet statue of Mahatma Gandhi was made by the sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar in the year 1948. Now, this statue is adorning Delhi. The world's tallest Mahatma Gandhi statue is also built by Ram Vanji Sutar of Noida. This 30 feet base and 40 feet tall statue is located in Patna.
