Mahesh Bhatt, a renowned filmmaker with a career spanning over five decades, has announced his decision to retire from directing films. In a recent interview, Bhatt revealed that he has grown tired of filmmaking and wants to bid adieu to the world of direction.

Bhatt, who has directed over 50 films, including critically acclaimed movies like 'Arth', 'Saaransh', and 'Zakhm', stated that he no longer wants to make films. His last directorial venture was 'Sadak 2' (2020), starring his daughter Alia Bhatt.

When asked if he would return to directing films under his production banner, Vishesh Films, Bhatt replied, "I've changed a lot. This is a new era, a new dawn." He described this phase of his life as the most satisfying, where he would prefer to mentor young filmmakers rather than direct films himself.

Bhatt emphasized that he finds more satisfaction in helping others make films than in creating his own. He said, "I don't have the thirst to leave my mark, which is a top priority in the entertainment industry. People like Vikram and Avika have that; I'm old now."

Bhatt's decision to retire from directing comes as a surprise, given his illustrious career in Bollywood. He has been instrumental in launching the careers of several actors, including Anupam Kher, Sanjay Dutt, and Aamir Khan.

Some of his notable films include 'Aashiqui', 'Sadak', 'Arth', 'Raj', and 'Murder'. Bhatt's films have often explored complex themes like love, relationships, and social issues. While Bhatt may be retiring from directing, his legacy in Indian cinema will continue to be celebrated. His contributions to the film industry will always be remembered, and his decision to mentor young filmmakers will undoubtedly benefit the next generation of storytellers.
