India faced 32-run defeat against Australia in third ODI at JSCA Stadium, Ranchi. However Former Indian Captain MS Dhoni  who enjoys a huge fan following got rousing applause at his homwtown as he walks out for the bat. The immense hype and hysteria were witnessed among the fans who gathered in large numbers to welcome their favourite player when he came to bat. 

 

Former Captain came out to bat when India were in trouble at 27 for 3 inside seven overs. In pursuit of 314, the hosts needed Dhoni and Kohli to stand tall. While there was tension in the Indian camp with an awry start, the audience forgot about the match situation and turned their attention towards the MSD’s entry into the field. Dhoni struck a handy 59-run stand with Kohli for the fourth wicket. He was a tad bit slow to start off but looked positive in his intent. He was confident against the seamers and even took on Nathan Lyon to bring up his 217th six in 50 overs -- most by an Indian.However, Mahi fell for a 42-ball 26 off Adam Zampa which silenced the crowd. It became a one-man show from thereon, and Kohli brought up his 41st hundred in the format. However, he couldn't save India from a 32-run defeat in Dhoni's hometown.

Before the match, Dhoni had politely refused to inaugurate a stand named after him citing, "I am a part of this ground. How can a person inaugurate something in his own home?"
