Mahindra Auto is set to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of two new electric cars. Currently, the company has the Mahindra XUV 400 electric car in its lineup, which boasts several modern features. However, the company is now planning to launch two new electric SUVs in the Indian market.
Mahindra Working on XUV 3XO Electric Variant
According to sources, Mahindra is working on the electric variant of the XUV 3XO, which is expected to be launched soon. The company may position this car below the XUV 400. The codename for this upcoming electric SUV is S240. Additionally, this car may come with a 35 kWh battery pack, providing a range of over 300 km. The electric SUV is expected to feature a panoramic sunroof and several modern features.
Competition in the Segment
In this segment, the Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, and Tata Tiago EV are already available in the market. Mahindra's new electric car is expected to be priced between ₹11-15 lakh.
Mahindra to Launch Electric Car in Mid-Segment
Mahindra is also planning to launch an electric car in the mid-segment. The company will build this car on the INGLO platform, and it may be named XUV.e8. This car is expected to be launched by the end of the year. The company may offer this car with two battery pack options - 60 kWh and 80 kWh - providing a range of up to 450 km. Features like panoramic sunroof, ADAS, and digital infotainment system may also be available in this car. The expected ex-showroom price of this car is ₹24-28 lakh.
Competition in the Mid-Segment
In the mid-segment, cars like MG ZS EV, BYD EV, and BMW i4 are already available in the market.
