Cairo: Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, the grand imam of Egypt's Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, will take part in the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence from November 3–4.
On November 3, Sheikh Ahmed, the head of the Muslim Council of Elders and the senior cleric at Al-Azhar, will visit Bahrain at the invitation of Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

The forum will be attended by more than 200 religious leaders from various faiths and sects.
The pope and Sheikh Ahmed last spoke earlier this month in Kazakhstan while they were both present at the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

King Hamad was received by Sheikh Ahmed at Al-Azhar in April 2016, and the king expressed his gratitude to the institution for supporting Bahrain's cohesion and stability.
Bahrain is and will continue to be a melting pot of cultures and ideas, Sheikh Ahmed stated during his meeting with King Hamad.
Pope Francis will visit Bahrain in November, the country with the biggest Catholic church on the Arabian Peninsula, at King Hamad's invitation.

Pope Francis, 85, will be the first pope to travel to the predominantly Muslim country in the Arabian Gulf, according to Vatican News.
