Shimla: On Tuesday, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar called himself a victim of the media. While talking to the media, Aiyar said he has written a full article. “Picking out one line from it and saying ‘now talk on this’. I'm not ready to be involved in your games. Main ullu hoon, lekin itna bada ullu nahi hoon.”

He further refused to clarify on calling Prime Minister Modi as “foul-mouthed” in the article, saying: “There is no need for clarification. I have been told that the Congress party has given an official statement.” Mr. Aiyar said that anything he says is misused because "there are people who hate me and they hate me because I tell the truth. I will go on telling the truth".

After maintaining silence for months, the Congress leader justified his "neech" jibe against the PM Modi and also called him the most "foul-mouthed" PM the country has ever witnessed. The article has drawn condemnation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which called Aiyar "abuser-in-chief". In the article, Aiyar also hit out at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various issues, asking: "Remember how I described him on 7 December 2017? Was I not prophetic?"

He was referring to the statement he made in 2017 when he called Modi "neech aadmi". "Modi will, in any case, be ousted by the people of India on 23 May. That would be a fitting end to the most foul-mouthed prime minister this country has seen or is likely to see. Remember how I described him on 7 December 2017? Was I not prophetic?", Aiyar justified.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao while responding to Aiyar, tweeted: “... Aiyar then apologized & hid behind poor Hindi excuse. Now he says he was prophetic. Congr revoked his suspension last year for filthy outburst.Double speak & arrogance of @INCIndia on display again!"

"Pak-crony Aiyar has the audacity to call PM 'anti-national'. Nation knows that @narendramodi ji is the epitome of 'Rashtra Bhakti'. Aiyar is known for 'Parivar Bhakti' as a (political) slave of the dynasty. It isn't surprising at all that all abusers are close Gandhi confidants."
