According to a top MG Motor India executive, the biggest challenge for car companies in 2022 would be to maintain commercial operations while also maintaining financial health amid various challenges such as a worldwide semiconductor shortage.

While the local market is seeing rising demand, it is also being impacted by the global semiconductor shortage, which has slowed production at a number of OEMs across the world."With the industry's resiliency over the previous two years, we are cautiously optimistic about 2022," stated Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director of MG Motor India.

Unpredictable issues such as Covid-19, global semiconductor shortages, freight prices, and escalating input costs, he continued, will keep the situation fluid in 2022. He also stated that the firm is working hard to satisfy high customer demand and is investing to expand factory capacity in order to minimise wait times even further. "The corporation is attempting to accommodate rising demand while also aiming to build the MG family in India," he added.

Due to pent-up demand, MG Motor India has seen evidence of improved consumer sentiment, according to Chaba, who expects demand to rise in the next year. The firm had a 56 percent year-over-year increase in sales, selling 37,723 units from January to November, compared to 24,152 units sold during the same time previous year. However, owing to a components scarcity, the company's production level is now hampered and may stay so in the coming quarter.MG said it will soon deliver its second electric vehicle to the nation, due to the government's clarity on its EV road plan. "We're all on board to make sure that the vision becomes a reality sooner rather than later," Chaba said.
